Obsessive

Its Saturday evening and all news channels in India are tuned into the American presidential speech, a speech that reminds me of your typical corporate 'go get 'em!' pitch aimed at motivating teams for reasons a-many. The obsession over his visit has remained for the last 3 days - and it makes me so mad that my skin crawls. Fair enough, there's relationship building, progress reports on India America ties, but the way we seem to fawn over his every word, applaud when he says this is the longest time he's spent in any country other than his, giggles around at his mention of American-made Harley Davidson bikes, its all just a tad OTT if you asked.

Sunday evening angst

I was hoping that this would be something of a travel blog - and that everything I put down would come from the passions of a heart that loves to wander. But as it turns out, that isn't happening. It's been a while since I went anywhere and so as much as I hope that travelling would monopolise this content, it is possible that it won't.

I'm bored - people that I love dearly are in Sydney, a cold winter's Sydney, where temperatures are hovering at about 14 degrees during the night. Jerusha and Abhishek went to my favourite bar in Sydney 'The Hero of Waterloo' tonight and I wished I could be with them. It's different when you're in a bar like that and no one else appreciates it as much as you do. The thing is, I know for a fact that these two share the same sentiments as me, so being stuck in a 30 degree Hyderabad and when it's sultry and hot and when the only thing I get to look forward to is a Monday morning, it makes for a terribly uninteresting Sunday evening.

Christening

Yeah yeah se a vida e, what I thought was terribly cliched and shamelessly flicked off from one of my favourite pet shop boy songs - but it's nice and it's in another language and I couldn't think of anything else :)

I don't know what I want to start this blog with. But I was looking through my pictures today and wanting desperately to go on another trip somewhere, during which time I figured that if I had this blog to myself to put down all kinds of memories as seemingly irrelevant as they seem, it might make for a fun read. So, here's this picture (from Kerala) of our canoe rower? boater? boatist? LOL, you know the guy that can row a boat, you can't and therefore, he's kind enough to take you around the canals of Alleppey for a price? That guy!

It's the magic and beauty of everything in that picture, aside from imaginations of the rower of course, that makes me want to put this pic up. Sigh want to go back!
